Should Growth Hormones Be Used in the Meat Production Industry?

Introduction

Many debates arise over the issue of injecting cattle with steroids and the spread of those hormones out into our environment. Both supporters and anti-supporters have different reasons for their view on this controversial issue, and evidence suggests an outsider can go either way. Does the process’s reason for generating more lean meat in cattle outweigh the reasons for keeping our environment safe? Are hormones actually better for the beef or do they create greater harm for the consumer? These are some of the primary questions raised between debaters dealing with this controversy. Both sides of this issue will be explained throughout the following articles, each highlighting different aspects within the debate. There is no universal right or wrong to this process, but debaters are continuing to push for their side and away from the other. Is the livestock process harmful to humans and their surrounding environment, or does the efficient beef production and monetary gain overshadow all of those factors?
